Swift Water Awareness Course for Canyoners

This three day course is aimed at people with canyoning experience looking to increase their skills and knowledge in a moving water environment.
The course is based at our staff house, near Cradle Mountain, and makes use of a number of locations ranging from 20 minutes to one hour drive from there.
You will learn how to progress through a moving water environment and identify hazards and techniques for rescue (both self and other people).
This course is aimed at people with previous canyoning experience. You should be comfortable ascending and descending a rope and be familiar with vertical rescue techniques. Ideally you should be comfortable establishing and using releasable systems.
You need to be a good swimmer and have very good fitness. We will be aiming to cover a lot each day.

The cost of the course includes up to four nights accommodation. It runs from Saturday to Monday, and you are welcome to stay the Friday and Monday nights. The accommodation is basic and you will be sharing a room with one other person and a bunk bed. There is plenty of space for tents if you prefer your own space.
